DC TAKES ON DAMN AM
In upcoming contest happenings, DC has just signed on as presenting sponsor of Damn Am. Taking place at 3rd Lair in Minneapolis, MN, the event will go down on June 6-8, 2008.
This year the number of entrants to Damn Am will be limited to 80 skateboarders, meaning the level of skating will be high, with top qualifiers earning entry to next year’s Tampa Am.

Besides sponsoring the contest, DC will host parties throughout the three-day event, including a launch celebration for the Smith 2.0, Ryan Smith’s new pro model hitting skate shops this summer.

Once the event gets going, look for live coverage at 411vm.com. Stay tuned to the DC Newsclip, dcshoes.com, dcskateboarding.tv and damnam.com for updates as we get closer to the 6th annual Damn Am!
ROAD FOOLS RECAP
For the last few weeks Corey Bohan and the rest of the Road Fools (including DC flow's Brad Simms and Rob Wise) have been hitting the road hard. Starting off in Tempe, AZ, the crew endured it all… on the positive tip, the boys scored photos, footage, and sessioned some great demos; on the low end, the boys got robbed blind. Check out Ride BMX’s website for full coverage from the 16th installment of Road Fools, including photos and daily recaps. Go here.

METHAMPHIBIAN II—CHECK THE MINISITE!
On the heels of famed sneaker artist Methamphibian’s first DC Artist Projects™ shoe and the 18-day European artist tour that coincided with its release, introducing Meth II.
The Summer08 Meth II, Methamphibian’s second official DC Artist Projects™ shoe, is a direct recreation of the hand painted one-of-a-kinds that he created on a European tour in the spring of 2007. Visiting key sneaker boutiques in Barcelona, Paris and London, the aim of the tour was to make a traveling showcase that could introduce Meth’s work and the first DC Artist Projects™ shoe. The trip’s focus was certainly the striking hand painted shoes – starting with a blank white DC Gatsby shoe, he customized each with bold coloring, patterns, and unique Meth artwork, and gave them to each store on the tour.

Check out the new minisite at dcshoes.com for info on Meth’s follow-up project with DC. Follow this link to visit now.
DC TAKES 1-2 FINISH AT OLYMPUS RALLY
Ken blazes by and throws a dusty roost.
DC Rally dominates! Last weekend Ken Block and Travis Pastrana earned their second straight 1-2 finish on the Rally America National Championship at the Olympus Rally outside of Seattle, Washington. Ken took the win, with Travis hot on his rear bumper, just 24-seconds back.

With recent bad weather ruining the usual rally location, organizers shifted the event to Pomeroy, a small town 270 miles east of Seattle. The new location was not only beautiful and dusty but also fast, taking place on high-speed, wide-open gravel roads. Combine that with perfect weather… the field was in for one high-speed, competitive weekend.

Ken’s proven himself super fast on gravel roads before, and those skills and confidence let him dominated throughout. He won or tied 12 of 15 stages, and pushed his Subi to a needle-bending 134 mph at one point. Ken overcame three flat tires over the course of the rally, including one that he fought through at 120 mph. "It's about having confidence in my car setup and knowing how to drive in these conditions," said Ken before the rally. "You really have to love going that fast."
Pastrana, crowd pleaser.
Travis got slotted to hit the starting line early all weekend meaning he faced loose gravel, which slowed him down a tad (you can drive faster on roads once the cars ahead of you have swept away the loose gravel). Travis managed to make up some time on Ken though, even marking a top speed on 133 mph (fast, but just shy of Ken’s top speed).
DC Co-founder Ken, pumped to win another one.
For Ken, the strong finish means he’s now dominating the points lead in the ’08 standings. For Travis, the strong finish means he’s back in the championship hunt, currently sitting in 4th place.

Next up: the Oregon Trail Rally on May 16-18th. Check out rally.subaru.com for more info and photos from last weekend in Washington!

TODD RICHARDS IS THE (PEN)ULTIMATE BOARDER
He Got 2nd Place…

Last weekend Todd Richards locked down second place in the Ultimate Boarder contest, a new comp that combines skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing in one contest. Richards took ten G’s for his efforts in the comp that organizers dubbed “the triathlon of our generation.”

T.R. took the early lead in the contest by winning the snowboarding portion at Squaw Valley resort near Tahoe with solid runs, including his final one that included back-to-back 9’s and a switch backside 540. The contest then moved down to the Ventura for the skate (vert) and surf (at C-Street) portions of the comp. When he’s not in the mountains Richards is an avid skateboarder and surfer, and his multi board sport skills proved enough for 2nd overall out of the field of 45.

Congrats Todd! Check out ultimateboarder.com for more.

PASTRANA AND BLOCK RALLY FOOTAGE FEATURED IN NEW SUBARU COMMERCIAL

As you’re watching ESPN and Versus over the next few weeks, look out for the new Subaru commercial featuring Travis Pastrana and Ken Block. The commercial features a fast, exciting edit of some of Travis’ and Ken’s rally highlights over the last few years. It’s pretty cool to see so many of the amazing jumps, drifts, and crashes mashed together in one short commercial, designed to promote the freshly updated Subaru WRX STI.

“The goal was to showcase the dramatic footage we've collected of our rally cars performing amazing feats and convey the performance capability and sheer ruggedness of our Impreza platform,” said James Han, motorsports marketing manager for Subaru. “Whether it's Ken [Block] performing a snow jump in his STI or Travis [Pastrana] maneuvering his rally car in and around the twisty corners found at X Games, the indelible impression you come away with is that Subaru creates versatile and awesome machines.”

There’s a 30-second edit of the commercial that’s airing on TV now, but Subaru has also posted an extended one-minute version on YouTube… go here to watch it.

EUROPEAN VACATION: FOOTAGE OF THE DC EURO SKATE TEAM
Over the last week we’ve hosted the DC Europe Skate team here in Southern California. Despite off and on rain all week, the crew managed to dodge the drizzle enough to get a few clips, and we’ve compiled them in a short new video piece at dcskateboarding.tv… Josh Kalis even tagged along with the Euros to show them a thing or two. Follow this link.

Besides the video clip listed above, we also posted blogs throughout the week to keep everyone updated on their European vacation to So Cal. Check out photos and a video clip or two in the blog section.

DAVI MILLSAPS WINS ATLANTA SUPERCROSS!
Davi Millsaps’ first-ever win in the 450 class came last weekend as the AMA Supercross series rolled into Atlanta, GA. The win is extra sweet as he did it in front of a massive hometown crowd of 67,000-plus fans… his home base is just down the road in Cairo, GA, so the crowd was nuts for hometown- hero Davi.
Not 100% in shape? Could've fooled us.
Davi’s been all over podiums so far this season, just missing out constantly on taking the top position on the box… recent editorials and race recaps have claimed that Davi has what it takes to win in the SX class. In Atlanta he pulled things together. He took 2nd place in Heat 2, enough to progress to the Main. After the gates dropped in the Main Davi emerged from the first turn in 2nd place, just behind Chad Reed. On lap 2 the stadium erupted as Davi went for the pass through the whoops! But, he just missed the takeover. Davi stayed on Chad’s rear fender, constantly pushing him until he forced Chad to make a mistake and crash on the sixth lap. From there Davi checked out, fighting off the rest of the field and maintaining a four to seven second lead for the remainder of the 20 lap main.
Wins are always good, but they're extra sweet when they're your first in a new class and they come in front of your hometown crowd.
"My stomach started cramping a little bit but I stuck it out and I did the whole 20 laps," said Davi, alluding to the fact that he’s still not in 100% great shape since his injury last year. "I want to carry this momentum into Indy next week."

Like Davi said, the AMA Supercross packs up and hits Indianapolis, Indiana next week. Congratulations Davi on your first 450cc win!
SUBARU GIVES EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT THE 2006 SEASON IN NEW BOOK, OUT NOW!
Get a photographic look at the epic season shared by Travis Pastrana and Ken Block in the new book from Subaru Rally Team USA, entitled 2006: A Retrospective in Photos. Presented as an event-by-event, insider’s view of the amazing year that saw SRT USA dominate the rally circuit, the book is even more special considering it was just their second full year racing rally!

By any standards, 2006 truly was an incredible year for SRT USA. At its culmination, Travis took the Rally America National Championship with Ken finishing on his heels in 2nd place. On top of that, Rally Car Racing made its debut that year at X Games 12 with Travis taking Gold and Ken the Bronze. Finally, Ken jumped his Subaru rally car a mind-blowing 171 feet for the Discovery Channel program ‘Stunt Junkies’. Indeed, a banner year.
The book provides a glimpse at some of the most memorable moments from that year. It was 12 months filled with action. Crashes. Triumphs. Rolled cars. Medals. And nonstop excitement as we Americans began to take notice of the rally world, a sport that’s stayed relatively underground stateside until the last few years.

Ken noted, “This book is a great way to celebrate 2006, an amazing year for our team. The photography is great and the book is very well put together. It’s a great piece of history and a must-buy for anyone that’s a fan of rally, Travis or me.”

The book is currently available for $29.95 at Subaru dealers nationwide, and in the DC Online Store. Follow this link for more.

BLOCK AND PASTRANA OWN 100 ACRE WOOD!
Go 1-2 Respectively
Ken likes those Missouri roads so much he just may have to move there!

Ken Block must really like Missouri! Last weekend he proved dominance at the state’s 100 Acre Wood Rally, round two of the 2008 Rally America National Championship, taking the win there for the third straight year. His teammate Travis Pastrana was hot on his heels, taking 2nd place.

100 Acre Wood is one of the fastest courses on the circuit as gravel roads flow through trees and blind corners and crests… commitment is a prerequisite here. This year’s event saw sleet, below freezing temperatures, and chilly rain in the days leading up to the start, making the roads icy and even more treacherous.

Pastrana looked solid, and the great finish gave him needed points as he aims at his 3rd straight National Championship.

While most of the competitors were struggling with the gnarly conditions—spinouts, crashes, flats, and mechanical issues—Ken seemed to just settle in. Ken looked confident as he charged on the roads he’s become familiar with, as he bagged wins there for the last two years. Travis stayed within striking distance for most of the rally, but just couldn’t seem to close the gap to less than 30 seconds.

The racing was nearly flawless for Ken and Travis, but both drivers experienced flat tires on the second day. However by that time, they had amassed such a huge lead that the setbacks were inconsequential to the final results. Ken finished one minute ahead of Travis, and Travis finished three and a half minutes ahead of third place. Now that’s dominance!

Make that three straight for Ken in Missouri.

The win gives Ken the early lead in the still-young 2008 Rally America National Championship. But, there’s still a lot of racing to be done as the series continues in mid-April for the Olympus Rally.

As with every rally, SRT USA has posted detailed daily blogs and lots of photos on their site. Go here to check everything out.

TORSTEIN HORGMO WINS BIG AIR AT WINTER X!
Torstein.
Last weekend Torstein Horgmo earned his very first X Games medal by taking the Gold in Snowboarding Big Air! (Riding a DC board, mind you). Torstein was one of just four riders invited to compete on the massive ramp, making its first appearance at this year’s Winter X Games 12 in Aspen, CO.

It all went down on Saturday night. In the first round Torstein faced his DC teammate Travis Rice, who’s always deadly in Big Air. Travis threw his double backside rodeo 1080, a trick he’s relied on recently over the Big Air gap (since when did a double rodeo-anything become a go-to trick?). Torstein threw a switch backside 1260, absolutely stomping the landing. The judging decision was left to the cell phone texting-ready viewers and Todd Richards—Torstein earned the round one win and progressed to the finals.
Torstein loves Gold! Gold DC hat on his head, Gold sunnies on his face, and a Gold medal around his neck.
In the finals Torstein once again dropped in switch, this time making a backside 1080. After Pearce, his opponent in the finals, sketched out on both his go’s, Torstein was named the Gold medal winner.

A HUGE congratulation to Torstein on the win! Check out more Winter X coverage, including video and lots of photos, on TransWorld SNOWboarding’s site… go here.
MILLSAPS BATTLES THROUGH THE SAN FRAN. MUD AND TAKES 3RD
It was a wet, rainy and all-together muddy race last weekend as the AMA Supercross Series hit AT&T Park in San Francisco, but DC’s Davi Millsaps charged through all the ugly conditions to take 3rd place. After a few incidents of bad luck for the first three races this season, this was Davi’s first 2008 podium.
Davi, knee deep in it.
When we say it was wet in San Francisco last weekend, we mean it… track builders kept the course covered until about 4 PM, but that didn’t really help as there were soon knee deep muddy ruts everywhere. Davi’s size and strength seemed to help him stay fast in the wet conditions… he charged in his heat race to qualify 2nd. In the Main Event Davi came out of the gates well, near the front of the pack. He then handled the first triple (basically jumping over Ferry) to take over 3rd place. On lap 5 Davi slipped into 2nd place, but 7 muddy laps later Davi went down. He was able to remount his Honda and fend off the rest of the field to take the final podium spot.
Davi on the podium.
With 2 of the 4 races so far this season happening in wet soggy conditions, Davi and the rest of the field are undoubtedly looking forward to the dry forecast as the AMA SX Series continues in Anaheim, CA. Go here for the TV schedule or here of the full series schedule.
199 LIVES, PASTRANA’S NEW FILM, WINS AT X-DANCE
Last weekend 199 Lives, the new documentary about Travis Pastrana, took Best Action Sport Film at the X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival held in Salt Lake City. X-Dance could be called a sister show to the notorious Sundance Film Festival, with X-Dance focusing primarily on action sports.
Created by Gregg Godfrey, the same man who makes those crazy Nitro Circus movies, 199 Lives documents the relatively short and very full life of Travis. Amidst all the Gold medals, double backflips, world records, and international fame the 22 year old has endured plenty of hard times. The film covers it all. Reports from the screening are that the film is emotional at times… a few tears were even seen at the screening according to Nate Christenson, DC’s staff photographer.

199 Lives will hit theaters in the US sometime this spring, with the DVD hitting shelves shortly afterwards. Go here to watch the trailer. There’s also a good article about Travis with a sidebar about the movie on ESPN’s site… go here for that. Congrats to Travis on the win, and stay tuned to this Newsclip for more about 199 Lives.

DC’S BALLROOM BLITZ GOES DOWN AT ASR
Luis Tolentino: short in stature, big in pop. Sam Olson photo.

Last weekend at the ASR trade show DC helped put on the Ballroom Blitz high ollie contest, just one part of the massive Grind for Life spot upstairs. The whole thing was pretty awesome, with about 20 skaters battling to pop the highest as the ollie bar went higher and higher. Luis Tolentino from Shut Skate in NYC cleared the 38 3/8” bar to take the win and the $500 that went with it. DC threw down an additional $500 for Grind for Life, an organization that helps people with cancer.

Thank you to everyone who came through and helped make the whole event such a success. For more about Grind for Life and all the great things it does, visit www.grindforlife.org.

BOHAN BAGS THE RIDE BMX COVER

The March 2008 issue of Ride BMX Magazine is hitting shops now.

D-OH! A DEER ROBS WIN FROM PASTRANA AT SNO*DRIFT RALLY

Sno*Drift, the annual kick-off to the Rally America National Championship, is a race that’s usually riddled with danger—snow, icy roads, low visibility—making it one of the year’s most difficult courses. But at last weekend’s Sno*Drift Travis Pastrana encountered another obstacle: a deer. Travis was leading the rally and was looking good to win it when he collided with a deer that was crossing the road! The wreck rendered Travis’ car un-drivable and resulted in a DNF. Check out the shocking in-car video from the unusual wreck on YouTube here, or more photos from the event here.

6 QUICK 1’s WITH DANNY WAY
Danny at home in San Diego last week.
Danny Way spent the second half of 2007 rehabilitating after another knee surgery, choosing to sit out comps and team trips in favor of getting better for another charge in ’08. Sporting a cadaver ligament in his knee, Danny went under the knife yet again just two weeks ago to repair other damaged parts.

After this most recent session in the operating room Danny is feeling better than ever. He’s claiming he’s at nearly 100% and ready for 2008. We caught up with him for a quick interview on Wednesday to see what’s up:
1. So first off, what did you have operated on this time?
A few things. I had my ACL reconstructed, my ankle worked on to finally clean out all the debris from when I fractured it and tore some ligaments when I jumped the Great Wall of China—I’ve been having problems with inflammation, soreness, and range of motion, so I got some of that back with out it getting inflamed or sore—and finally I had my elbow worked on… it was the exact same scenario, where I hurt it 15 years ago and I’ve just been neglecting it.

2. Why were you neglecting your injuries?
I had other injuries due to other circumstances, so I would opt to get my knee worked on instead of my elbow, when I should have just had worked on them simultaneously, like I did a few weeks ago.

3. How do you feel now?
Overall, everything’s back on track. I’m already skating, and I’ve had three surgeries in the past five months. I feel like this is the first time where I’ve had full health as far as the structure of my body. Now, I don’t need any surgeries for the first time in a long time.
4. Do you have any advice for skaters who have been injured?
If you really want to continue to skateboard you should take into consideration that you should prepare for the worst. It’s inevitable in skateboarding that you’re going to get hurt—it’s just a fact, you know? A part of skateboarding is learning to accept that. Just like your board breaks sometimes, your body breaks sometimes. Your body is just another tool you’re working with.

5. Any secrets with rehab to help them get on their boards faster?
Just have motivation to keep skating. Whether it’s your career or you’re doing it for fun, it sucks being out of commission and it sucks being hurt. Definitely rehab your injury before you go out skating and start hurting it again—I’m definitely a hypocrite with that scenario, but then again I do the right things to take care of myself.

6. You have some ideas for ’08. What’s on deck?
I’ve got some pretty good motivation and some good plans for the next couple of years. Everything’s still up in the air but if it all comes together it will be pretty exciting. All the surgeries will be worth it.
SUBARU DONATES TWO CARS TO THE DC MTN.LAB!
Thanks to Subaru, this winter the DC team will be well outfitted when they visit the MTN.LAB! The company chose to give two fine autos to DC, placing them at DC’s private snowboarding R and D facility (and Ken Block’s private house) for the team to use.

Ken has kept a personal Subaru WRX STi in the garage at the MTN.LAB for years, relying on its 4WD, a system Subaru is world renowned for, to get around Utah’s icy snowy roads. With the unique Subaru AWD system that comes standard in all their cars, traveling up and down to the MTN.LAB has been a cinch for Ken. Now that Subaru has donated two cars to the LAB, DC’s team has cars to use too.

About the donation of the two cars, Ken said, “With Travis [Pastrana] and my own factory rally racing team deal, it’s a real natural fit for Subaru to give us the cars for the team to use at the MTN.LAB. They are a great company to work with, and there simply isn’t a better car for the conditions and terrain around the LAB.”
The first Subaru is a 2007 WRX STi, the same high-performance, 300-plus horsepower model that Ken and his SRT USA teammate Travis Pastrana pilot in the Rally America National Championship (with a few performance mods, of course). The other is a 2008 Outback XT. Both whips are fully loaded, including all-wheel drive and GPS navigation. They also have custom 18-inch black rims and complete Yakama racks, meaning they’re fully equipped to take the team and their equipment wherever they want to go.

“The new cars are so fun to drive,” said Sean Lake, who was at the MTN.LAB last week and was one of the first DC staffers to try out the cars. “They handle the icy roads super good. Basically, they’re exactly what we need to get around up there and make road trips with the team to the other resorts near the LAB like Park City.”

Thank you to Subaru for the cars! Check out more on their complete line of automobiles at www.subaru.com.
DC SNOWBOARD SNEAK PREVIEW ON TRANSWORLD'S SITE
Get your first look at DC’s premiere collection of snowboards via an exclusive photo gallery on TransWorld SNOWboarding’s website. The folks at TWS tagged along with the DC team during a session last week in Colorado. Devun Walsh, Aaron Biittner, Iikka Backstrom, Lauri Heiskari, and Kimmy Fasani showed off some of the new models that they’ve been working on developing while shredding a freshly dusted Loveland Resort.

Go here to see the gallery and get a first look at a few of the boards we’re releasing, then stay tuned to this Newsclip and dcshoes.com for more on DC boards as we get ready for them to hit shops this fall.
BRUCE TAKES 2ND AT THE 6TH ANNUAL BACKDOOR SHOOTOUT
Congratulations to Bruce Irons for taking 2nd place at the 6th annual Backdoor Classic! A grassroots, homegrown event, the contest was back on after a four year hiatus due to some permit issues over the past few seasons. It came just in the nick of time—the contest scored the best swell at Pipe so far this year with 18-20 footers rolling through. Bruce tends to thrive in conditions like that, and he worked his way through everyone, even taking the lead for a short time before locking in 2nd place and the $25,000 that came with it.
Bruce, having fun and getting barreled! See the full sequence on Surfline's site.
“These are the best waves I’ve surfed all year,” Bruce said shortly afterwards. “[The shootout] lets the best Pipeline surfers surf out there in an expression format and not a heat format. It’s all about having fun and getting barreled.”

For photos from the event, check out Da Hui’s Flicker page—they’ve posted a sizeable gallery that's definitely worth a look. Surfline has too… go here for that gallery. And stay tuned to dcshoes.com and the DC Newsclip… we’re working on a highlight video clip from the event that should be ready mid next week.
NEW VIDEO OF DANE REYNOLDS IN FRANCE
Check out the surf team section at dcshoes.com for a new video clip of Dane Reynolds surfing in France. It’s footage gathered on a recent DC trip, where Dane and the crew showed up and scored just as the WCT was leaving town. The clip will give you a good idea of what we can all expect from Dane when he starts competing on the WCT next year—just don’t expect to hear that type of promise from Dane himself, who’s taking a more reluctant approach to the ‘CT and comps in general.

As with all surf videos, we’ve posted this latest one of Dane on the “DC Shoes – Surf Team” podcast in the iTunes Store.

After you check out the video clip, grab a copy of this month’s TransWorld SURF for photos from that same trip to France.

TUNE IN FOR WINTER X NEXT WEEKEND

On January 24 X Games 12 kicks off at Buttermilk Mountain at Aspen / Snowmass, Colorado. Tune in to root on your favorite DC riders in the Snowboarding Big Air and Slopestyle events!

Hitting up Snowboarding Big Air will be Travis Rice and Torstein Horgmo—we all know that T.Rice is downright deadly on the big air ramp, and Torstein is currently sitting World #2 in the TTR standings. With such impressive histories in Big Air, both riders should be considered serious podium threats.

Travis Rice.

Over in Slopestyle, watch out for Chas Guldemond, Eddie Wall, Lonnie Kauk, Torstein, and T.Rice, plus Priscilla Levac and Kimmy Fasani competing in the women’s portion of the event. All riders are listed among the favorites in Slopestyle, especially Eddie who took a podium finish in the event 2 years ago, and Chas who took second at the US Open last season and is sitting World #3 in the TTR standings.

For more, check out next week’s edition of ESPN the Magazine. The publication will be previewing Winter X, including features on T.Rice and Torstein.

Once Winter X kicks off, ESPN and ABC will be pushing live coverage and highlights to 121 countries worldwide. Slopestyle finals will be on ABC on Saturday for 3-6 PM EST and Big Air finals will be on from 9-11 PM EST on ESPN. Go here to see the remainder of the TV schedule at www.expn.com.

Thanks to Aaron and Ryan for letting us in and letting us take some photos.

This park has some great transitions, and a wall ride that these guys were killing it.

The art work is great and music is nice and loud.  If you ever get lucky enough to skate here you will love it.  Hurley did a great job on the park no wonder the workers are so happy.

If you like Hurley gear check them out here.  Hurley.com Check out some pics in the California section.

INTRODUCING RYAN GALLANT’S FIRST SIGNATURE SHOE
Check the dcshoes.com Minisite for Details!
For this week's Newsclip we've animated the sequence of Gallant's ad that's running right now in the skate mags.

For Spring 2008 DC is proud to release Ryan Gallant’s very first signature shoe. Check out the new minisite at dcshoes.com for the story on Ryan and his pro shoe, including a short podcast video, a gallery with a few skate photos of Ryan, and, of course, info on the shoe.
As with every DC signature shoe, the design and development process of The Gallant was left entirely to the rider. Ryan worked with DC footwear designers to create his ideal skate shoe using the Manteca, a classic DC model, as a base for his design. Ryan said, “I just wanted a plain skate shoe that didn’t blow out and that didn’t feel like a thick sock after a day. I’ve skated in the Manteca and Avatar, so that’s what I talked about when making this shoe… then I just wanted everything thinned out—I like a thin shoe.”

Ryan went on to help develop Super Suede+™ for use as a durable upper material on his shoe. The material is an improvement of DC’s revolutionary Super Suede™, this version further reinforced to prevent blowouts. About Super Suede+™ Ryan noted, “…every kickflip feels grippy and on point. I’ll kickflip a lot of shoes and the stitching will be all peeled back, then there’s the complete blowout… [this material] is tough and lasts."
The black colorway of Gallant's shoe.
As far as colors expect a basic black upper / white cupsole combination, a staple colorway for Ryan, as well as a green/black/white combination.

Rounding out the Spring 2008 Ryan Gallant project is a t-shirt with custom artwork (which is also featured on the shoe’s insole), and, because Ryan wears New Era caps so much, two signature hats. Ryan is the first DC team rider to get a signature hat and tee.

Look for Ryan Gallant’s signature shoe exclusively in skate shops beginning just after the New Year, and stay tuned to the DC Newsclip in the coming weeks for more info. For now, follow this link to see the minisite at dcshoes.com for video, photos, and the story on the shoe.
REMINDER: MTN.LAB 1.5 VIDEO NOW IN SHOPS
Last week MTN.LAB 1.5 hit retailers worldwide… head to your favorite snowboard shop now to pick up a copy of DC’s 2nd-ever snowboarding movie!

Directed by Pierre Wikberg, the video covers all the action and hilarity that has gone down at the DC MTN.LAB in Utah since DC’s first snowboarding video two years ago. But, because of a lack luster season that made the MTN.LAB more of a mud lab than a anything else, the crew also ventured to spots worldwide to stack up footage. Sweden, Australia, and Canada all got hit, plus New Zealand for the highly publicized last part that sees rally cars and the DC snowboarding team side-by-side at Snow Park Resort.

The video clocks in officially at a little over 30 minutes, but there’s over 1 hour of footage in the EXTRAS section as well as a couple of secret movies… you’re going to have to figure out how to get to those yourself! (There’s even a secret movie inside of one of the secret movies!).

Visit dcshoes.com/snow for more info now, the head to your local shop to grab a copy!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

WIN A COPY OF THRILLBILLIES

Since its release Thrillbillies, the new video from Travis Pastrana and the Nitro Circus crew, has been getting rave reviews, thanks most likely to the madness it documents... for example, there’s footage of Travis jumping out of an airplane without a parachute!

Thrillbillies is available right now in shops and all over the net (go here for info), but this week we’re giving away five copies of the video. Just be one of the first to answer the following trivia question correctly and we’ll hook you up:

* They say cats have 9 lives. How many lives do they say Travis Pastrana has?

Send your answer to winthrillbillies@dcshoes.com before 12/31/2007. We’ll announce the winners in the next DC Newsclip and after the New Year in the NEWS section at dcshoes.com. Good luck!

FALL SKATE TEAM UPDATE
Josh Kalis, backside flip.
It’s been a while since we updated everyone on what the team’s been doing—between King of trips and all the other activities the guys get into, things have been pretty busy across the board.

After finishing up DC King of Barcelona Wenning decided to stay and skate Spain for a bit longer, enjoying everything Barce has to offer. He’s now home in New Jersey. Kalis has been skating a lot and is now back in Grand Rapids after visiting Dyrdek, Colin and the DC crew here in So.Cal. He’ll spend the next few months polishing off his part for the Alien Workshop video (see the trailer here), due out this spring. Kalis also has an all-new pro shoe that’s just hitting skate shops… check it out by following this link.

Danny’s recovering nicely from the knee surgery that kept him out of X Games a few months ago… he was seen at the DC park a few weeks ago rolling around but taking it easy until the new cadaver part in his knee fully grows in. He’s also been full throttle with his music, collaborating with Renee Renee, Splif, Eddie Rap Life, Jake Brown, Travis Barker, and others (including his band Escalera) on a bevy of projects. Look for the results from those sessions soon. This week he’s fighting fires to defend his home in Rancho Santa Fe.

Also on the music tip is Ryan Gallant, who’s staying busy these days on his new drum machine. Right now he’s in Boston kicking it with buddies while the Red Sox fight in the World Series.
The RD.
If you’ve been watching his MTV show then you know what Dyrdek’s been up to for the most part. Look for season three of Rob & Big, coming soon. He’s also involved in a major motion picture project with De Niro and Pacino, among others… details here. And, he currently has two DC signature shoes in shops: the Rob Dyrdek and the RD. Check them out over at dcshoes.com if you haven’t yet.

Colin’s currently at home in Carlsbad, hitting the streets a lot as he films for an upcoming Plan B promo. He's also working out the details on the new house he’s building in that same area. There’s rumors around that he’s building hubbas and other stuff in the backyard. We’ll have to wait and see.
Ryan Smith is back home in Vista, CA after a motorbike wreck a few weeks ago. He's already walking around without crutches, and last week he was spotted cruising around DC Headquarters working on his new pro model, the Smith 2.0, due out next Fall. More details on Smithers as they become available. Ryan’s Mystery teammate, Lindsey Robertson has been on his board shredding Black Box and other spots around San Diego. That’s when he’s not playing Madden, making mixtapes, or riding his BMX. And Devine Calloway has been skating a bunch around Bakersfield and is in the process of moving down to Los Angeles.

On the am side of things, Greg Myers has been skating tons (as usual) and has finally moved down to the San Diego area to be closer to DC, Blackbox, and the North County skate scene in general. It’s good to have him in the mix.

As always, look for details on all the guys on the DC team in this Newsclip over the next few weeks.
BLOCK AND HORGMO ON THE SNOWBOARDER COVER
Hitting shops Monday, 10/29, is the new issue of Snowboarder Magazine, featuring Torstein Horgmo and Ken Block side by side off a Snow Park kicker in New Zealand. The cover photo is from the same session that appears at the end of MTN.LAB 1.5, where Ken whips the DC Snow team all around the park via a tow rope on the back of his Subaru, then hits jumps right by their sides. The footage is out of control.

Be patient… in the coming weeks we will have more information on the amazing cover shot and all the good stuff inside the new issue.
NATE ADAMS WINS ORLANDO, NAMED DEW TOUR 2007 ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Nate, Orlando winner and 2007 AST Dew Tour Athlete of the Year.
One of Nate Adams’ goals for 2007 was to win the 2007 AST Dew Tour Cup. He accomplished that goal last month in Salt Lake City when his win there gave him enough points to mathematically secure the Cup, but last weekend in Orlando he put the icing on the cake and won the year’s final event. An added bonus to Nate’s awesome ’07 Dew Tour was when he was named 2007 Athlete of the Year, meaning he was considered the best rider out of all the sports on the Dew Tour (skate, FMX, BMX)!

Before the award ceremonies Nate absolutely handled the competition in the finals. It was classic Nate Adams style and perfection that g
